From stockroom to marketplace: a clearer selling routine for resellers

An online listing is easier to manage when you can find the item, trust its quantity and identify the right parcel. Here is the practical stock routine behind our plans to connect Mi Marché with InventoryOS for commercial sellers.

Give the physical item a clear identity

Use a recognisable product name and record model, size, colour and condition where relevant. A SKU is an internal stock reference; a barcode is a scannable representation of an identifier. Keep a consistent reference between the physical stock and your records so similar items do not become interchangeable by accident.

For one-off second-hand products, each item may need its own condition notes and photographs. For multiple identical new units, make sure the pack contents are clear. A listing for one unit should not look like an offer for an entire supplier case.

Know where the stock lives

Record a storage location before stock disappears into a box or shelf. If one product is split across locations, keep the quantities tied to each location. A total holding is useful for planning; location-level detail helps you pick the actual item.

Our guide to organising reseller stock explains a starting routine. You can establish this now in InventoryOS, independently of the future marketplace.

Keep listing availability realistic

Before offering something for sale, check that it is present and in the condition described. If you sell in several places, decide how you will record a sale quickly enough to avoid offering the same last unit twice. Held, damaged or missing stock needs attention before it is treated as available.

We are planning an optional InventoryOS connection for Mi Marché so commercial sellers can work with their stock records. It is not live synchronisation today, and we are not claiming that this project already integrates other selling platforms.

Make dispatch a repeatable check

Match the sold item, quantity and delivery label before sealing a parcel. Use suitable packaging and keep tracking or postage evidence where appropriate. Photos can support a record, but a photograph by itself does not prove parcel contents or guarantee the outcome of a dispute.

InventoryOS currently offers dispatch and supported automatic shipping-label cropping on the relevant plans. Those existing tools are distinct from the Mi Marché buying and selling service that is still in development.

Start with a manageable catalogue

A small, well-described group of products can reveal naming, location and dispatch problems before you expand. Review what takes time: finding stock, creating listings, checking quantities or preparing parcels. That feedback is useful as we shape the marketplace.

Join the Mi Marché launch-interest list if the idea fits your business. No paid InventoryOS subscription is required to register interest. Final marketplace fees, launch features and trading terms will be published before sales open.
